Want to be on my radar for future UXR opportunities?

Hey Reader,

I want to share something that is very much a part of the work I do through UX Outloud.

As you know, I spend a lot of time having conversations.

Conversations with researchers who are reflecting on their careers. Some are actively job searching. Others are doing well where they are, but quietly asking themselves what growth could look like next.

And also having conversations with leaders and hiring managers who are trying to build strong research teams and want to do that thoughtfully. Over time, one thing has become very clear to me.

Opportunities rarely show up out of nowhere. More often, they move through connections, timing, and trust.

When someone reaches out asking if I know a UX researcher who might be a good fit for a role, I don’t start by posting broadly or sharing a generic list of names. I pause and think about alignment.

  • What kind of researcher would actually thrive in this environment?
  • What stage of their career would this support?
  • What type of work would stretch them in a meaningful way?

That’s where the UX Outloud community survey comes in…

The survey helps me understand who is in this community beyond a resume or a title. Your experience, the kind of work you enjoy, what you are curious about, and where you want to grow next.

It gives me the context I need to make more thoughtful, human connections when the timing is right.

And I want to be very clear about something. I always check with you before sharing your information with anyone. This is about care and consent, not pressure.

If you have been meaning to fill out the survey but haven’t yet, consider this a gentle nudge. It takes about 15 minutes, and it helps me keep you in mind when relevant opportunities come across my desk.

This is one of the quieter ways I try to support researchers navigating change, growth, and uncertainty in their careers. Making sure the right people are seen for the right opportunities, at the right time.

If this resonates I encourage you to fill it out and also, would really appreciate it if you forward this email to a researcher who might benefit from being part of the UX Outloud community.

All the best,

Eniola Abioye

Hey Reader, Quick update on Research Crit 📣 The first event of 2026 is now happening on March 18 at 5 PM PST. We originally shared a potential date of March 11, but we’ve moved it one week later and I’m excited to officially lock in the new date. We’re relaunching with a special edition that feels especially important right now, all about: Decoding Performance Reviews: A Roadmap to Your Next Promotion Career progression is not as linear or clearly defined as it used to be. Roles evolve...

Hey Reader, The difference between a script and a story is perspective. And here’s something I don’t think we say enough in UX: Researchers are not meant to be neutral narrators. Your methods should be rigorous. Your analysis should be grounded in evidence. But your delivery? That requires point of view. 🧠 Too many research readouts feel like slide tours. Information-heavy. Easily forgotten. Not inspiring the decision makers in the room. A readout is not just where you share findings. It’s...

Hey Reader, Guess what?! The UX Outloud Research Crit series is officially back. And this pause? It was very intentional. I took time to step back and really listen to what this community has been navigating. Layoffs. Reorgs. Shifting expectations. “Do more with less” energy. And I kept hearing the same thing from folks,“I’m working hard… but I don’t know what actually leads to a promotion anymore.” So we’re starting off with a theme that feels especially important right now: Decoding...
