An inside look at my latest UXR Project with Outset AI đź‘€

Hey Reader,

I hope you are doing well. I’m excited to give you an inside look at my latest research project. We have officially launched our first research project on Outset AI. It’s research about researchers, so naturally I took a turn being a participant and let an AI tool interview me.

I had a lot of questions about how these AI-moderated conversations would go because moderating is one of my super powers and truthfully, it was hard to trust that I would get the same quality of responses.

I expected to just be shown a list of questions, but it was actually a conversation. The tool asked me follow-up questions, responded to the surprising bits of my stories and each of the test conversations were dynamic!

Check out this clip of me being interviewed on the platform—it really showcases how interactive the tool is.

PS: My research team is heads down recruiting participants now so if you’re a junior, mid-level or senior UX Researcher or UXR Leader in the US, curious about AI UXR and willing to share about what your career has looked like thus far, let me know.

There’s a $10 Amazon gift card in it for you if you’re a good fit.

Let me know if you're interested, or feel free to share this with someone who might be!

All the best,

Hi Reader 👋🏾 Let me tell you something...no, AI isn’t here to replace UX researchers. But it can help you work smarter, not harder. Think of AI as your research co-pilot. It won’t do the job for you, but it can take the pressure off repetitive tasks, help you move faster, and sharpen the work only you can do. It frees you up to focus on the part that matters most—your critical thinking, empathy, and insight. That’s where you excel as a researcher. Here's how some researchers I know are...

Hey Reader, You know those moments when you just wish you could get feedback from someone who really gets it? Someone who’s reviewed 100s of resumes, built design teams, and understands what hiring managers are really looking for? Well… you’re in luck. I’m bringing in a special guest for next week’s UX Outloud Research Crit on Wednesday, June 25 and let me tell you you’re not going to want to miss this! Meet Jaryn Miller 👋🏾 Inclusive Design Leader 15+ years in research + design Board Member...

Hi Reader 👋🏾 One of the most important skills in UX research often doesn’t get the attention it deserves: the ability to define clear, focused research objectives. It sounds simple, but writing strong objectives—ones that drive clarity and impact—takes more than a quick brainstorm or a reused slide. It takes strategic thinking, practice, and intention. When your objectives are dialed in, everything runs more smoothly.. Teams are aligned Methods are more effective Insights are easier to act on...
