The biggest problem in research right now isn’t a lack of data 👀 Join us TOMORROW June 17 to talk about it

Hey Reader,

I’ve been having a lot of conversations with researchers lately and there’s a theme I keep hearing:

“We’re doing the research. So why does it still feel like nobody is listening?”

And honestly, it’s a challenge facing our industry right now that won’t fix itself.

Because the problem is not that we don’t have enough customer data.

We have more data than ever.

More user interviews

  • More surveys
  • More behavioral analytics
  • More feedback channels
  • More AI tools that can help us process information faster than ever before

But having access to customer voices and actually creating change from those voices are two very different things.

Somewhere between the research repository, the readout, the roadmap meeting, and the final product decision, insights often lose momentum.

A finding gets acknowledged but not acted on.

A research report gets shared but not revisited.

A customer pain point is understood but deprioritized.

That gap between listening and action is exactly what I’m excited to unpack in an upcoming conversation with HeyMarvin:

Close the Listening Gap: What Modern Research Teams Need Next

📅 Wednesday, June 17
⏰ 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT

I’ll be joined by incredible research leaders Mahad Bullo (Included Health) and Alexis McNutt Unis (OnePay) as we discuss what’s changing in modern research and what it actually takes for insights to have influence inside organizations.

Together, we’ll explore:

🧠 Why research breaks down between insight and decision-making
What prevents valuable customer knowledge from making it into strategy, prioritization, and product decisions?

📊 What high-impact research teams are doing differently
From building stronger relationships with stakeholders to creating systems that make insights easier to find and use.

🤖 How AI is reshaping research workflows
Not just helping us work faster, but changing how we synthesize, share, scale, and preserve institutional knowledge.

📣 The new skills researchers need to strengthen
Because the future of research isn’t only about asking great questions. It’s also about storytelling, influence, business acumen, and helping teams make better decisions.

This is a conversation I think every researcher needs to be part of right now.

Especially in a moment where teams are becoming leaner, expectations are rising, and researchers are being asked to demonstrate not just the quality of their work, but the impact of their work.

If you’ve ever wondered:

  • How do I make my research more influential?
  • How do I get stakeholders to actually use insights?
  • How does AI change the value I bring as a researcher?

Then I hope you’ll join us.

And if you can’t make it live, register anyway and you’ll receive the recording afterward.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Best,

Eniola Abioye

Hey Reader, We’re officially in conference season again, and honestly, this year feels different. I'm loving the side conversations, the people I randomly sit next to, and the spontaneous idea sessions that have stuck with me. Almost every conversation I’ve been having lately keeps coming back to the same thing: How AI is changing the way we research, build, collaborate, and make decisions. Not all conferences hit the same, but one that I'm really excited about is Crafted by UserTesting! It's...

Hey Reader, Quick question for you: Have you ever wrapped a round of interviews and thought… “why aren’t these insights hitting the way I expected?” It’s not bad conversations or bad questions. Just… something missing. A lot of the time, it comes down to this: You didn’t talk to the right people. And that’s the part of research that doesn’t get enough attention. Participant recruitment gets treated like a logistics task…when it’s actually shaping everything that comes after. Who you recruit →...
